Where’s Charles Darwin’s Preferred Headphones!?

Ever since birth, I considered myself very unlucky when it comes to headphones. It’s either I get a pair that has crappy audio quality or something that breaks easily even with the slightest use. Granted that I haven’t tried the most expensive ones on the market yet, but I don’t want to buy those since there are others that are making do with even a mid-level type of headphones.

I’m not sure if this headphones look good on me

The thing that really bugs me is that, I don’t really use them that much and they still wear down so easily. I don’t use them doing intensive stuff, like jogging. I only use them when I’m on my bed listening to podcasts and some music.

I was pointed by my friend Jake, to a store down by Main Avenue and he said that they sell some high quality headphones at a very low price. He told me that it was so durable that it would win at a survival of the fittest match.

Let us hope so.

What would Robert Langdon do?

If you know who Robert Langdon is, then you would probably know what a symbologist is. To those who don’t, its a made-up term made by the author of the Robert Langdon line of books Dan Brown that pertains to the profession of the protagonist. Which actually means, someone who specializes in symbols and its meaning. It’s something that is very important in all the books plotlines as Robert Langdon needs to decipher the meaning of the symbols encountered throughout the story.

In the books, Robert Langdon knows everything from the true meaning of the inverted cross, the swastika, the Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, and even those symbols that are hidden in famous artworks.

Lately, the internet has been abuzz with the Voynich Manuscript a very weird ancient document that has still not been deciphered even up to this day. For more information go here. Lots of scholars have tried but to no avail. A lot of people are giving their own theories as to what the manuscript actually contain and its fun to read them.

It is at times like these that we wish that fictional characters come to life to help us with our problems. Please Robert Langdon, give us your expertise!

A Fruit Basket for the New Baby

Uncle Jeremy just had his first baby today. Yeah, I know the 25th of December! How cool is that!? (Although, I kinda feel sorry for the newborn for his birthday gift would also be his christmas gift for the rest of his life. Yeah, bummer).

Anyways, because of this occasion. I was asked by my mother to buy a New Baby Fruit Basket as a gift to Uncle Jeremy.

Being a guy who overthinks everything, I wondered why it has been a custom to give fruit baskets whenever a new baby is born. How does fruits relate to newborn babies? Are these gifts for the babies to consume? Or are just people too lazy to buy something different?

Oh! Oh! How about I buy a complete DVD set of the Fruits Basket Anime and give that as a gift intead? Right? No? Okay. A regular fruits basket it is.

When games become more lifelike

Video games have continuously evolved over the past few years. From the ape like stature during the 8-bit era, it has now become something that can be likened to the complexity of humans that we know now.

The blue thing in the middle is supposed to be a dragon.

Nowadays, the industry has been so obsessed in making sure that everything looks lifelike. Almost every developer place great attention to detail. From the little nook and crannies of the cars in Gran Turismo 5. To the minute details of the hunting binoculars in COD: Black Ops.

This obsessive attention to detail coupled this with the newfound capability of current gen consoles to render lifelikeness, it’s almost as if video games were meant to go this route.

Although this is a good thing as it would make video games more immersive, I still pray that the industry won’t forget the thing that really matters. And that’s gameplay.

Lost in Translation

A few days ago, I happened to chance upon a site that was giving away something that was unfamiliar to me. “Caméscopes Giveaway” the ad proclaimed. It was a part of a Christmas promotion that the site was doing.

It was the unfamiliar word Caméscopes that got my attention. With my limited knowledge of foreign languages I made a guess that it might be a German word of French. I don’t know why, there was something about the structure of the word that gave me such an impression.

I then made a wild guess on my mind on what a Caméscopes might be. Surely it was something valuable enough for it to be considered a give away prize. Judging from the word “scores” it may have something to do with magnification like a microscope or a telescope. I couldn’t figure out was “Camé” was though. Maybe something related to “camels”? I know it sounds stupid but, who knows? ”Camescope, a telescope that can be mounted on your camel! For those stargazers in the deserts!”

Camels never look directly at the camera. Emo jerks.

It was after a few minutes that I finally gave in and searched for its definition only to find that it was actually a french word meaning “Camcorders”. Lol!

Go check the Phonebook

Yesterday someone asked me where the local Maritime Injury Lawyer is located. Really? You’re asking me that? Lol. It was too specific a question and the guy didn’t know of the address or even a telephone number of the place!

Did he really expect anyone to know something as specific as that? Whatever happened to looking things up on the phone book? Or the internet, for crying out loud! Haha.

Contrary to popular belief. They’re still quite useful

I mean, I take pride in the fact that I am a person who knows my way around our town. But, c’mon, at least ask for the address!

The story ends with me not being able to help the man on his search. I believe he is now roaming the streets, hopelessly lost, forever.
