Acoustic Guitar Strings

Awesome is all I can mutter!  I was glad I came to our school concert featuring talented students that competed in the  ”We’ve Got Talent Contest “- an ambitious project of the school.  I think I never blinked an eye watching in awe a beautiful rendition of a love song with the accompaniment of awesome Acoustic Guitar Strings players.

It has been a dream of mine to play the guitar but after countless attempts, I only learned few pieces by heart so I gave up.   I believe I need to discover myself more.. music is not cut out for me.

My era saw children playing native games on the streets or public playground.  I used to play with our neighbor kids and we had such unforgettable memories of our growing up years.  We used to trade cards, play hide and seek under the full moon, play marbles, rubber bands, Chinese garter.  On rainy days, we used to race paper boats in clear canal and catch elusive frogs.  On summer days, we fly kites in the fields, play baseball and climb fruit bearing trees.  I wonder where is Dan, our yo-yo champion?His yoyoing skills delights and amaze us.   If Dan has not outgrown yet this game, I bet the more he will appreciate yomega I should say the games of yesteryears are mostly physical that builds team building and strategy and cooperation.

When I see children in public playgrounds, the scenario is very much different.  They are busy with their mobile phones, handheld games, PSP’s.   When at home, they stay glued on the TV watching or playing on line games in the computer.

Yoyoing is back… let us go back to basics… more fun…

In school, they had launched the Clean and Green campaign in the campus.  And we particularly liked the idea of composting made easy using compost tumbler which can turn a boring garden into a green sight to behold.   Information dissemination regarding recycling and waste segregation attracted a lot of interested students and parents alike.

I listened attentively and took note of all pertinent information that I can pass on to my grandmother whose hobby is to tend her garden tirelessly.  Gardening makes her mobile and we allow her to move around in her garden as an exercise activity for her instead of  sitting idly in her rocking chair.    The compost tumbler will no doubt will be of great help to my grandmom.

I wonder how much it cost?  I’ll better start saving now…

Door kick plates

I’ve been hearing about door kick plates but admittedly, I have a vague idea about it until I had the chance to visit my friend’s new house.  It has a front glass door and noticeably attached at the bottom of the door is a polished aluminum aluminum brass door kick plate which accentuated the facade of his home.

Now I know that door kick plates are not used for nothing but to prevent it from toe kick marks and some wandering animals that can scratch on the door.  I would suggest to mom to also try it on our door since most of my nephews and nieces including our pet dog used to bang the door by kicking it mindlessly.

Fathers anxiously waiting outside delivery rooms can’t help but puff cigars out of excitement and nervousness rolled into one.  It happened to an uncle of mine awaiting his first born child.  However, after almost 8hours of his wife’s labor, there was seemed no progress so the surgeon informed Uncle Ted that it is imperative that she should be under the knife.  Yes, Ceasaration section was hurriedly scheduled to save the baby from further fetal distress.  To allay  the already building up fear for the unknown and worries about Aunt Jean’s condition, friends and relatives trooped to the hospital to keep him company.  An elderly man whom we believed is a  relative of  Aunt Jean showed the men who gathered round in a table box of fine cigars he said he ordered cao cigars online ready to be puffed while they are waiting.

The men convinced that sampling the cigar will relax them for a while all agreed it was good and before they know it, an announcement that a bouncing baby boy has been delivered safely to the Diaz family.

My coffee addict err coffee lover dad will be in for a big surprise from me this coming Father’s Day.  I know that he is not expecting to receive something different and interesting this year for I have not send him any expensive gift ever.  His expectation of me is not much because he understand that I depend solely on my monthly allowance.  No pressures!  Dad used to give receive cards drawn and crafted by me and with that alone, I can see the joy in his eyes everytime he read it.  He made it a point to make me feel that he appreciates even how humble my gift are.  I know he is not faking that smile !

Out of my meager savings, this year, I bet Dad will surely be jumping with joy (exaggerated me!), when I send starbucks gift baskets online for him and I know he will love me even more for this.

Well, knowing him, surely he will get even by sending me a new ipod  gadget  in return when my birthday comes.   Love begets love.. gifts begets gifts….  I love the thought!

Ipod touch

I’ve been meaning to own an ipod touch gadget just like my other friends but I guess I have to wait till my birthday before I can wish for a new gadget.  Nowadays, it seems that everyone has their teeth sink into this modern technology and I know I will soon be one of them come my big day.  It would be too much of me to ask for more considering that that we are well provided for and I consider gifts as bonuses that pour as blessings.

So, I have to calm myself down  for a while because in a wink of an eye, I will be celebrating my birthday and if my parents will ask which gift I want, then I will declare the new ipod touch it is… Such an assumption of my part that mom and dad will ask but I know they will!  Gift giving has been customarily done in our family and hopefully this year, nobody will veer from this tradition citing economic reasons.

My mind is already screaming “I want an i pod touch”… Oh please birthday… please do come now!

monitor stand

To save space in our condominium unit, we bought a monitor stand that instantly solved our cramped space problem.  3 of us are sharing the unit and even how much time we spent re arranging and discarding unnecessary things inside, still I can feel that the room is too tight for the 3 of us.  It made me stop and had this funny thought that maybe we are fast gaining weight  and we are occupying much bigger space than before.  It come to a point that we have the room to blame for getting too small for us.

We raised this issue to mom and dad and we even suggested if we could move to a bigger unit upstairs but they  made us understand that bigger unit means higher monthly rental.  Mom said we have to consider the family finances and finally we realized too that we have to be practical nowadays.  She wisely advised us buy a monitor stand so we can just hang it on the wall and it is a guaranteed space saver.

It worked!

We had the opportunity to visit the newly built house of a friend who came all the way from New York to grace the much awaited housewarming.  She referred to her little mansion as a product of her “blood, sweat and tears”  and it is really a known fact that Marissa, single handedly worked to have her dream house built.   She poured all the nicest and choicest furniture and decorations she can lavishly afford.   The bedrooms and bathrooms smelled heavenly.   Curiously, the girls in our group peeked in the bathroom and they said they’ve found the secret of that scent that enveloped the room.  Apparently, Marissa has been using Cleopatras Choice essential oil especially the lavender essence which has a calming and relaxing effect that can even send you to sleep even you are in the bathroom.
