Ah, yes. The simple humble door. Considered as a gateway that transports you to other places, may it be just the room next door or to the unknown. It also serves as a safeguard to keep everything out, or in some cases to keep something in. Alas, another thing that people take for granted. Something that people see less of but they use all their lives.
I bet you’re wondering what made me open my eyes to the value of the humble door. It wasn’t until recently that I have perceived its usefulness.
It was a Friday night, around 9PM that I came home from a celebration at a friend’s house. I noticed that the streets were awfully quiet than usual. No vehicles, not even people were in sight. I usually get alarmed with such a sign but I was already tired that my mind ignored it.
As I was turning to a corner. I heard an unsettling sound. A sound that I have feared ever since I was a wee little boy. It was a dog growling, preparing itself to bark. I usually am calm when dealing with dogs but rational thinking seem to have eluded me. I started to run. Probably startled with my quick movement, the dog started running after me.
For over a minute we were in chase. I figured that a minute more would be too much for me to handle so I began to think. I need to look someplace safe! And so, as soon as I caught sight of a open door, I dashed towards it and closed it behind me. Although I was half-expecting the dog to plow the door down to get to me. All I heard was a growl and then nothing. It would seem that my chaser has already given up.
So you see, if it weren’t for the door, I would have a limping leg by now. It is to it that I am thankful, which is why I am now headed to the nearest door hardware store to purchase something for it as a sign of thanks.
What do doors like anyway? ~ Pol

The name's Pol and I'm a guy who really loves to talk and rant. In this blog, I mostly talk about technology, gadgets and the internet, but there are times when I also dabble in other stuff like art, movies, comics, and video games.
