Every year, there comes a time when I live in constant fear. And it’s not during Halloween. It’s on the month of April.
April Fools. It usually lasts only for a day, but for me and my friends, it takes a month. This was because of one stupid idea that one day wasn’t enough of a time-span to play pranks. And so, guided with the wisdom of beer, our group has decided to extend the “feast of fools” for a whole month. That day marked the start of the most horrific month of our lives.
Now, having an agreement for an April fools month written in blood does have its fun moments. You can play pranks whenever and wherever you like where the only limit is your own conscience.
However, it also has its downsides. Very big downsides. Utterly Huge Pit-fall like downsides… You live in constant fear of the unknown. Fear of when someone is going to prance on you with a prank. I found that paranoia became a frequent visitor during the whole month.
And so, in an effort to not get punked, I immediately locked myself up in my room for a whole month. Never answering calls, second guessing emails and text-messages, with only my blog and the comfort of the internet to accompany me. Its a good thing that I didn’t have a job to go to, so I was free to live alone.
30 days later. The date when the agreement officially is null. I finally opened the door outside and breath the fresh air of freedom. I set off outside to greet the world anew.
…
Days later, I found out that the agreement was an April fools joke.
