What I like about blogs is that it serves an avenue for your thoughts. Where you can rant and talk all you want. It’s similar to a diary, yes. But the similarities end there.
You see, if ever you are planning to show your diary to someone, make sure that it’s presentable and neat. And be sure to rip off those pages that mention the person you’re showing your diary to. You don’t want any confrontations, do you? Diaries are not meant to be showed. Its a personal keeper filled with a person’s inner thoughts and feelings, some are even outfitted with locks for protection.
Blogs, on the other hand, are the opposite, they are open to the public. And are free to be criticized and commented upon.
This shows the major difference between a blog and a diary. Not because blogs are viewed in pixels and diaries are in ink and recycled paper, it’s because of the type of topics one writes on each.
Since blogs are open to the public, going all out lashing other people would be a bad idea. That kind of thing is reserved to a diary. Doing such a thing would have serious repercussions to you and your reputation. I’ve heard lots of news where blogs have destroyed peoples lives.
The ability to express oneself is a great power, indeed. Unfortunately, as cliche as it may sound, with great power comes great responsibility.
Now that’s their difference! Stop saying that I’m writing a diary, Gerald!
Ranty and defensive ~ Pol
The name's Pol and I'm a guy who really loves to talk and rant. In this blog, I mostly talk about technology, gadgets and the internet, but there are times when I also dabble in other stuff like art, movies, comics, and video games.
