Led lights

I was not surprise at all when an electrician uncle came for a visit.   Apparently, my mom sent for  him to do something about our electrical fixtures and to check the lighting in our condo unit.  Hmmm… I remember now, in one of my regular chatting with her, she pointed out  our high electric consumption every month.   My siblings and I are living in a condo unit away from them and we were taught to handle our finances wisely.  All bills are scanned and sent to mom at the end of the month for her to check and our allowance will follow afterwards.

Mom is  hoping that with led lights Uncle Don will install in our computer room, it might help arrest  the escalating energy bill we have monthly.  He will also check our electrical appliances especially our A/C unit.  Huh!  Very unlikely that mom obviously is getting so particular with bills nowadays.

I guess, she is saving for her botox job because one time we teased her about the evident frown and laugh lines on her face.

 My aunt  just told me that  mom instructed her to monitor our monthly expenses.   I had this feeling that she thinks that we are already going overboard with our expenditures, because the allowance she just remitted is almost gone barely 15 days after she sent it thru door to door delivery.  Actually, I already sent her an email with detailed explanations but still, she would like to see the breakdown of our weekly expenses.

So, starting this week, I will see to it that I will only buy our needs from grocery stores with receipt printer to support the list of expenses I am going to send her montly.

I understand Mom- she is only teaching us how to check and balance the hard earned money she and our dad regularly sends us.

Debt counseling

Getting out of debt is a lot harder than getting into it.   This bring into mind my late grandmother who imparted to us the wisdom of living within one’s means and to manage our finances wisely to avoid getting into debt.   There should be financial responsibility and lately, I don’t know how I can help a friend who seemingly  had gone overboard with her spending, she being too confident that she will not run out of means to pay her blown out of proportion credit card expenditures.   That is what exactly I wanted to point out to her even though she is richly provided for and is receiving monthly remittances from her parents, still she needs to take it easy with her credit card use.   And her expenditures proved to be uncontrollable that her debt piled up and unexpected news that her dad was laid off due to Saudization  (his dad works in the Middle East) added to her woes.   Definitely, she needs a good session of Debt counseling to help her get out of what she referred to as “quick sand” pulling her down.  Blaming her is not what she needs these days but somebody who can help her manage and rectify her mistakes in  handling finances.   Lucy, my friend badly needs counseling and we wasted no time getting the services of Debt.com recommended by a distant cousin who was also saved from debt worries and troubles.

I would never forget what mom told us about how grateful she was  with the good gesture a colleague has done to save her from an impending problem when she forgot to deposit funds for a check issued to pay the our monthly condo rent.   If not for her friend, surely, she will be dealing with the bouncing check law which she doesn’t  want to happen to her.   Last week, she along with her group was out for a medical mission and in the middle of our busy activities, there she received an urgent call from a bank representative informing my mom that she needed to deposit funds right away.   That made her panic and knowing her, I can just imagine that she was almost at my wits end not knowing what to do but there was this friend of hers who was quick to offer help to travel fast to the city to remit thru ach payment at ThePaymentsAuthority.org.  She settled with the assurance that the money will be remitted in no time at all and thank heavens, it saved her from further worries.

Business proposal

This food cart business proposal came from my cousin and although I am sold to the idea , it is still my parents who have the final say.  She was convincing me to be her business partner citing that I am good at marketing and advertising strategies.   I am not interested yet to venture into something I know I don’t have the time to personally supervise since I am about to graduate from college and my hands are already loaded with school projects.   Liz is persistent for us to give it a try citing that ROI (Return of Investment) will not take years… and the income is good.    Well, my cousin, I think failed to realize what a good life I am enjoying now,  I just have to study and I never worry about my allowances because all of us were all provided for- all expenses paid.   So, why do I have to think of business this early? I understand that she is feeling bored after her graduation and that she don’t want to apply for a  9-5 job so she wanted to do food cart business instead.   So as not to discourage her, I volunteered to do research and study on the proposal and promised her that I will try to present it to my parents.

Business venture is not only having capital to start with but it also requires careful planning, hard work, long hour, dedication and a lot more. Oh, if I can only tell her to just stay home and blog.. but I also don’t want to rob her of her dream to own a food cart business.  So, I think what she needs now is a good marketing assistant to guide her and definitely that wouldn’t be me.  Not now … maybe after my graduation…

Saving for the rainy days…

Mom inculcated in our minds the wisdom of saving money for the rainy days.  Thus, in case of any eventuality that may arise, we can rest with the thought that we have savings to depend upon.  However, there was one time that we were not able to foresee a difficult situation wherein a relative  was in dire need of large amount of money for his heart bypass operation.  Even my family’s combined savings won’t suffice to tide over my Uncle’s financial needs so my Mom was worried sick with his brother’s worsening condition.  Since his surgery should be done STAT (or urgent) and we were pressured for time to raise funds, we then opted to apply for cash advance online with Check City company which was highly endorsed by a friend.  Since we have good credit standing, our loans were released fast and my Uncle had his operation done right away.
