Ipod touch

I’ve been meaning to own an ipod touch gadget just like my other friends but I guess I have to wait till my birthday before I can wish for a new gadget.  Nowadays, it seems that everyone has their teeth sink into this modern technology and I know I will soon be one of them come my big day.  It would be too much of me to ask for more considering that that we are well provided for and I consider gifts as bonuses that pour as blessings.

So, I have to calm myself down  for a while because in a wink of an eye, I will be celebrating my birthday and if my parents will ask which gift I want, then I will declare the new ipod touch it is… Such an assumption of my part that mom and dad will ask but I know they will!  Gift giving has been customarily done in our family and hopefully this year, nobody will veer from this tradition citing economic reasons.

My mind is already screaming “I want an i pod touch”… Oh please birthday… please do come now!

Pandora beads

Since my mom already had a considerable collection of gold jewelries, set of diamonds to rave about, amethyst birthstones, pearls… whoah.. what more can she ask for?  She had it all to a  modest standard.   In fairness, my mom spends only for luxurious items if she has money to spare.   She is not mindlessly wasting money on things she don’t actually need.  Most are gifts from my dad on countless occasions and last Sunday, Mother’s day she received a set of diamond necklace and earrings to match.

I can’ really compete with my Dad when it comes to gift giving but I can be at par with him if creativity and practicality will the name of the game.   I’ve chosen to give my mom beautifully crafted pandora beads as Mother’s day presents.  My mom is known for clever accessorizing and my gifts are the best I can give her. I had it daintily wrapped in a box with pink ribbons and I lavishly blew kisses into the box before I sealed it  full of love.

I’ve learned this from her “ The great art of giving is that the gift should cost very little and yet be greatly coveted, so that it may be the more highly appreciated”.

The MER (Marriage Enrichment Retreat ) my friend Jay and his wife Vivian attended, according to them is an eye opener.  Jay mentioned that they’ve learned during the program that in order to sustain a long lasting marital relationship is for the couple to be able to address and meet the needs of each other, be physically, mentally, spiritually and psychologically.  Casually, he mentioned that it is not only men who need testosterone boosters but there are also help available like arginmax for women.

Whoah!  I think Jay is confused because my FB status is “married” (just for kicks) and he forgot that I am still single.   But anyways, that nitty gritty information is very much noted.  I will keep that in mind just in I got hooked.

Lingerie body stockings

Whew!  I was almost dead tired after coming from a bridal shower that lasted till the wee hours but it was an enjoyable night with the girls.   As we  gathered round in circle, we keenly watched Jinky excitedly opened one by one those pretty, pretty and unique presents.   We were all giggly over some naughty ones which she had received and how she really blushed when a neatly wrapped box revealed awesome lingerie bodystockings which a girl friend sent for her.  It was a riot with all the teasing and instructions on how she is going to use it on their honeymoon.

And Jinky gave us a naughty wink and  promised us girls that she will give us feed back on how the bodystockings  will do wonders on their special night.   Hmmmm…..

Sleepy morning

I can’t say that it’s really a good morning because I have to catch more zzzzzzzzzzzzzz’s today.   A snoring buddy who stayed with us for the night happened to snore as if there is no tomorrow.   And because I am a shallow sleeper, I was awake throughout the night.   I’ve tried earplugs but still I can hear that disturbing sound.   I know I snore too and now I wonder how others think of my snoring just like what I had experienced last night.

My mom told me that she sleeps ahead of my dad so before he started that chainsaw sound, she is already deep in sleep.  But why this snoring problem of my friend be my problem?    The best thing for me to do is not to invite him to sleep over and problem solved.  Or if he wants to sleep in my unit, he should stay in the next room because both he and I deserved a restful night.

I’ve heard that snoring is one common marital problem and since I am also a snorer, I think I need to fix it before it gets worse.  How about you, are you a snorer too?  Have snoring been a relationship problem?  Good that I am still single and no wife who will be awake throughout the night.

Our carpet was in a sorry state

The carpet in our room has to say goodbye. Admittedly, I erred when I allowed an irresponsible friend to use our condo while my 2 siblings and I were away for a month long vacation in the Middle East to join our overseas worker parents.   The carpet was shipped to our condo 2 years ago and we had taken good care of it not only because our mom told us so but we are aware that the Persian carpet was costly and it was only on 50% sale so mom and dad were able to buy it.   Aside from our  regular vacuuming , a portion of our monthly budget is allotted for carpet cleaning; shampooing and stain removal to extend it’s life.   So, it pained us to have found out that our carpet was in sorry state when we came back from vacation.   It’s been a month and until now I still don’t know how to divulge the sad fate of the carpet. It should be like the song “break it to me gently” would be the proper stance on how to tell mom about it so that she will not over react.   I have already conditioned myself for my mom’s scolding and hopefully not too harsh punishment for my carelessness.  The incident made my relationship with my erring friend gone sour and the trust severed.  If not for cooler heads intervention, out of my rage I almost had given him a right and upper cut blows (ala Manny Pacquiao-the boxing world champ).  My friend (not anymore) was apologetic for irresponsibly letting his another group of friends to an overnight partying in the place actually not his.   It resulted to soiled, wet, stained and cigarette burnt Persian carpet. I bet that they were too drunk already to have ever taken into consideration to at least have the decency and respect for the free use of our condo unit.   Well, I can forgive him but not forget (it will take time…).

I don’t have any picture to post now because sadly the carpet would only make my mom angry and if she happens to read this post, I think she  might faint (my exaggerated assumption on how she will take it)  because there goes her Persian carpet.

Oh dear, I have lost a friend , our Persian carpet and hopefully I will not lost mom’s trust.   Sad!

Dancing the Zumba…

Finally my mom has found a healthy way to lose weight… gradually but surely!  She is into Zumba dancing and mighty proud she is as she credits Zumba for losing 10 lbs. already.   Well, as what I’ve heard from friends, Zumba is a Latin inspired fitness program and she swear to high heavens that she will stick to the dance routine forever because it promises to burn 500 calories per hour.   Actually, I believe that she can really sustain the enthusiasm because way back then she was already into ballroom dancing and it was only when she got  married and had a family that dancing took a back seat to taking care of us, tending the house and being a dutiful wife and mom.   Secondly, according to her my dad is a boring dance partner who can’t can’t keep up with the groove and moves that oftentimes her being impatient of teaching  him to dance leads to LQ’s (Lovers Quarrel).   However, dad would always accommodate request from my dancing mom to be his partner even though he jokes about having “two left foot”.

I am sure glad to hear that she is back to dancing but I am kinda worried that her bones might be getting a little stiff and brittle now that she has turned 51.   Just the other day, I had a little chit chat with her over the phone and she enthusiastically bragged about her dancing which she raved to be a fun workout which invigorates and makes her feel young.  She should have considered dancing long before if that is the case because work always stressed her which makes her grumpy all the time.  Now that she has been into fun and healthy activities, ageing will be delayed in some ways.   She said that even without dad in the class she never worry at all because Zumba routines requires no partner.   You just have to enjoy the music and love the dance.

Oh, I love to see my mom looking young and fit once again!   It would be goodbyes to her slimming pills, slimming coffee and teas, the fad diets as she embraced the world of Zumba dancing.   I hope mom will keep it up along with sensible diet.   I told her to encourage dad to join the class too because his latest pic showed him with a bulging belly.   That gives me an idea to order on line Zumba DVD’s as an ideal Christmas gift.   Perfect!
